BLS Provider Virtual Skills

Effective September 1, 2023, BLS TCs and Instructors must follow guidelines for BLS virtual skills outlined in the document, “Training Memo: Instructor Guidelines for HeartCode BLS Virtual Skills” (see Training Memo and Bulletins section below).

Materials for Conducting HeartCode BLS Virtual Skills:

Continuous Compressions

Advisor: BLS

The Advisor: BLS course materials and completion cards were developed to accommodate students who pass the cognitive portion of the HeartCode® BLS Provider Course but cannot perform the physical skills of CPR. By successfully advising others how to perform CPR and use an AED, HeartCode BLS students with disabilities can receive an Advisor: BLS card. Students should check to make sure that their workplaces will accept these cards. Advisor: BLS cards are available exclusively to authorized TCs for issuance in accordance with AHA policy.

New York

This certificate of completion is for TCCs and/or Instructors in New York state who must provide a certificate of completion for the in-person skills portion of a Heartsaver or BLS Provider Blended Learning Course to students who work for the New York State Department of Health, Bureau of Community Environmental Health, and Food Protection. This certificate does not replace the AHA course completion card. Instructors must also issue a course completion card to participants who successfully complete a full AHA Heartsaver or Basic Life Support Blended Learning Course. Instructors would issue the certificate verifying completion of the in-person skills portion in addition to the course completion card.
