California

These links and videos were provided to the American Heart Association by the California Emergency Medical Services Authority (EMSA). Their resources were developed by a multidisciplinary group of State staff from the California Department of Public Health, University of California at San Francisco’s Child Care Health Program, California First Five, and Emergency Medical Services Authority (my department). The video size and quality have not been manipulated so viewing full screen will result in a grainy image. It is recommended that you adjust your player accordingly. If you have questions about the video, the links or California State requirements please contact EMSA directly(link opens in new window)(link opens in new window).

Connecticut

In order for AHA’s pediatric first aid CPR AED training to meet Connecticut requirements, the Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid CPR AED with Supplementary Materials Certificate must be issued by an AHA Instructor to the student that needs to satisfy Connecticut requirements for the Department of Public Health. The certificate should only be issued when the Instructor uses the supplementary materials for the state of Connecticut.

When the Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid CPR AED Course is taught with the supplementary materials and the certificate is issued along with the course completion card, the course becomes acceptable under State of Connecticut Department of Public Health Child Care Licensing regulations found at Section 19a-79-4a (e) (2) (A) (B) and (C). These regulations outline the minimum level at which a child care program may operate.

New York

This certificate of completion is for TCCs and/or Instructors in New York state who must provide a certificate of completion for the in-person skills portion of a Heartsaver or BLS Provider Blended Learning Course to students who work for the New York State Department of Health, Bureau of Community Environmental Health, and Food Protection. This certificate does not replace the AHA course completion card. Instructors must also issue a course completion card to participants who successfully complete a full AHA Heartsaver or Basic Life Support Blended Learning Course. Instructors would issue the certificate verifying completion of the in-person skills portion in addition to the course completion card.
